About the Book

The life of an entrepreneur is a journey, not just any journey but one that requires vision, however the lack of experience could sometimes be regarded as one of the major causes of failure since most entrepreneurs follow routes or patterns that are new or seldom followed by the majority. Therefore it becomes important that entrepreneurs should learn from the experiences of others, amongst other sources to limit the chances of failure. If I have to do it again, will I do it the same way? Certainly not, probably I might not venture into business. Why? I think because I now have more experience and knowledge that will prevent me from walking through the lonely and sometimes dangerous path. It is most likely that these experiences and knowledge could have prevented me from achieving independence. What is financial independence? It is the ability to live from the income of your resource, and entrepreneurship offers you this opportunity while practicing your passion and even making a difference in society. From my experience, I believe that vision, desire, intuition, and ingenuity, are more valuable than experience if well managed. Whereas some experience will fashion a pattern that will follow past precedence, vision and intuition will help you explore new territories and try new options for a different result. But the balance between these two (experience and intuition) is most appropriate and more so using the experiences of others to avoid certain mistakes. Having gone through business school and running my business for quite a while, I have discovered that what I was taught in business school is some worth different from what is obtainable in the real world, sometimes it suggests that the school instills more caution than confidence and even sometimes limiting out of the box thinking. It could be said that the school sometimes instills some disciplines that are only relevant in an established work environment, making it more difficult for graduates to explore new territories, or undertake new business ventures. From my understanding entrepreneurship many a time entails following the path less often used, and I have taken time to explain my experience in ten chapters: Do I Have a Choice?; Where am I?; Obstacles; Learning; Discovering and Building Entrepreneurial Qualities; 3B Model (Breakout, Break-in, and Breakthrough); Dreams and Visions; Friend or Partner; It is All About Brand; Moving Forward - translating business models to a functional company), which can be summarized in three key phrases "Breakout - Overcoming Personal Limitation" "Break in - Penetrating The Market (Customers)" and "Breakthrough - Going Beyond National & International Boundaries (market Expansion)". In today's life, success as an entrepreneur lies more in going beyond national boundaries, and the ability to grasp this will fine-tune your vision to suit contemporary reality. Understanding that major competition you will be facing might not be from your hemisphere but someone across the globe, and preparedness for this challenge is key to success in today's world. The main objective of this book is to communicate my thoughts and experiences, and to encourage would-be entrepreneurs to take a leap-of-faith, and those already on an entrepreneurial journey to keep pressing forward. It does not seek to cancel already established principles/ thoughts, but encourage readers to analyze these principles and discover what works for them; and where necessary question the statuesque. Furthermore it does not suggest the nature of business to embark on, but offer some tools and guidance that will help you in decision-making. My desire that by reading this book many undecided stars will find the spine, to lead us into the next revolution, and those who are already in the journey will know that they are in good company.
