Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Arbeit, Beruf, Ausbildung, Organisation, Note: 1,3, Universität Potsdam (Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Klasser der Organisationssoziologie (Proseminar), 10 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Frederick Winslow Taylor, der schon zu Lebzeiten als Pionier der modernen Betriebsführung galt, verfolgte den Grundsatz, die Anwendung der menschlichen Arbeitskraft zum Gegenstand wissenschaftlicher Beobachtungen und Analysen zu machen und die daraus gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zum Wohle aller zu nutzen: Die mit seinem System des Scientific Management (Wissenschaftliche Betriebsführung) gesteigerte Produktivität sollte gleichermaßen die Gewinne der Unternehmen, die Verdienste der Arbeiter und allgemein den Wohlstand der Bevölkerung erhöhen. Allerdings manifestierte sich von Anfang an die Ambiguität seines Systems, die darin bestand, dass Taylor zwar Ordnung und Verlässlichkeit schuf und sich mithin gegen Willkür, Faustregeltum und Traditionen in den Betrieben seiner Zeit stellte, indes gleichzeitig auch gegen die Selbstbestimmung des einzelnen Arbeiters, den er in ein Regeln befolgendes straffes System einspannen wollte, welches seiner Auffassung nach für eine effiziente Arbeitsweise nötig war. Seine Ausführungen zogen daher sofort kritische Stimmen nach sich, die bis heute nicht verstummt sind und dem "menschenverachtenden Taylorismus" stets eine zynische Entseelung der Arbeiterschaft und deren Ausbeutung durch hohe Leistungsvorgaben vorwarfen. Anknüpfend an diese kritischen Stimmen beschränkt sich diese Abhandlung auf den humanwissenschaftlichen Aspekt der Taylor'schen Arbeitsmotivation und fragt danach, wie Frederick Taylor die Arbeiter dazu bringen wollte, unter seinem kritisierten (starren und monotonen?) Regelsystem täglich das zu erbringen, was er als "angemessene Tagesleistung" betrachtete.
