Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Thema: Frieden und Konflikte, Sicherheit, Note: 1,7, Universität Hamburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Bis heute wird in der Türkei die systematische Ermordung und Vertreibung der armenischen Minderheit im Osmanischen Reich relativiert, oder geleugnet. Die Völkerrechtlerin Martha Minow schrieb, dass Opfer und Täter nur durch Vergebung einen Schlussstrich unter solche Verbrechen ziehen könnten. Gleichzeitig sei staatlich betriebenes, kollektives Vergessen und Leugnen aber für die Täter notwendig, um die eigene Selbstachtung zu bewahren. Da die Opfer ohne Anerkennung ihres Leides nicht vergeben könnten und ihrerseits Wut kultivierten, eventuell sogar Rache anstreben würden, könne eine solche Politik nur scheitern. Alljährliche Gedenkveranstaltungen und Demonstrationen zum Jahrestag der Deportationen 1915 zeigen, dass die Nachfahren der Opfer in der Tat weder vergessen, noch vergeben haben. Bis heute bildet die türkische Geschichtspolitik eines der Haupthindernisse für die Normalisierung der armenisch-türkischen Beziehungen ebenso wie sie auch die europäisch-türkischen Beziehungen beeinträchtigt. Nicht zuletzt deshalb löste die französische Anerkennung des Völkermordes 2001 einen vorsichtigen Kurswechsel gegenüber Armenien aus. Seitdem haben neue Impulse im innertürkischen Diskurs zu einer differenzierteren Betrachtung der Geschichte geführt. Vorliegend geht es daher nicht um die Frage, ob ein Völkermord stattgefunden hat. Dieser wird als Faktum anerkannt. Doch welche Ursachen sind verantwortlich für den vorsichtigen Wandel des innertürkischen Diskurses, für die ansetzende Enttabuisierung? Ausgehend von den Ursachen der türkischen Leugnungspolitik sollen die Gründe der heftigen Emotionalität aufgezeigt werden, mit der Türken aller Lager auf dieses Thema reagieren. Anschließend werden drei Faktoren benannt, die in den vergangenen Jahren einem differenzierteren Diskurs den Weg geebnet hab
