Durch den mehrstufigen Zieldefinitionsprozess der Marketingabteilung setzt sich der Mitarbeitende intensiv mit dem Ziel, den Handlungsmöglichkeiten und Strategien auseinander. Dieser kognitive Aufwand, welcher von Locke & Latham auch Zielintensität genannt wird, beeinflusst das Zielcommitment und ist einer der drei Haupteinflussfaktoren. Ein weiterer Faktor ist der Wert des Ziels. Motivierungspotenziale wie Aufgabenstruktur, Arbeitsumgebung und soziale Gegebenheiten beeinflussen zusammen mit den persönlichen Motiven die Attraktivität des Ziels sowie die Attraktivität der Ergebnisfolgen. Diese werden zusammenfassend als Wert des Ziels bezeichnet. Die Erwartung bezüglich der Zielerreichung ist der letzte Einflussfaktor des Zielcommitments. Sie beinhaltet die Erfolgswahrscheinlichkeit, die Instrumentalität und das Vertrauen in die eigene Tüchtigkeit. Die Seminararbeit zeigt theoretisch auf, dass der Zieldefinitionsprozess der Marketingabteilung einen positiven Effekt auf das Zielcommitment hat.
