About the Book

WHY ARE NEWBORNS AND KIDS FAT?

Thirty percent of children are fat. Many are born that way. You might say it's just genetics, but it's not.

With rare exceptions, there is no gene that predestines you to be fat. But if you are born fat, you have a better chance of becoming a fat kid, and you have a better chance of becoming a fat adult.

WHAT IS EPIGENETICS?

This is the expression of your DNA and is controlled by the cellular environment. This starts in the womb and continues all your life. The primary factor controlling epigenetics is your diet, and when you are in the womb, it is the mother's diet. And when you are a child, it is the family diet.

WHAT CAN BE DONE?

This book is for pregnant women and the people who provide their prenatal care. The prenatal diet induces epigenetic changes in the baby. After the baby is born breast feeding affects their epigenetics. When the baby is weaned, their diet drives obesity. I will teach you about epigenetics and diet. This is a start, but my main goal is to prevent obesity, prediabetes, and Type 2 diabetes.

If you are obese, your breast milk is slightly different. It may increase the risk of obesity in the child. Still, overall, it is of much more benefit to the baby to breast feed instead of bottle.

After weaning, the child eats what the rest of the family eats. Obesity is going to be related to the family diet. i review what can be done about this.

Obesity is becoming a problem in both younger and teenage children. Incretins may play a role in the obese teenager.

Let me be clear. You are obese because of your diet. your diet affects the baby. There are things that can be done to help prevent fat babies. If you child is obese, it is the diet. There are things that can be done. If the teenager is obese, it is the diet, and now we can use some of the weight loss diets. Eventually, in the older teenage, incretins may be the weight loss diet of choice. If you lose weight on incretins, you must then go on a different diet than the one that made you fat to begin with.
