About the Book

Gui Bonsiepe (geb. 1934 in Glücksburg) ist einer der maßgeblichen Entwickler der Disziplin des Interfacedesign. Er forschte und lehrte an verschiedenen Hochschulen, wie der hfg ulm (1960-68) und der Köln International School of Design (1993-2003). In verschiedenen Ländern Lateinamerikas war er als Gestalter und Berater für Industrialisierungspolitik tätig, in Kalifornien beschäftigte er sich frühzeitig mit Software-Entwicklungen. Bonsiepe ist Autor zahlreicher Beiträge zur Forschung im Design und zur Designausbildung.

Die hier vorgelegten Schriften von Gui Bonsiepe sind das Ergebnis seiner Erfahrungen aus Forschung, Theorie, Praxis und Lehre. Sie fokussieren vier Schlüsselfragen der Designdebatte: das Verhältnis von Visualität und Diskursivität, das Verhältnis von Peripherie und Zentrum, Fragen der Entwurfstheorie und zuletzt deren soziopolitische Hintergründe - ein kritischer, an ethischen Grundsätzen ausgerichteter Diskurs. Insgesamt bietet der Autor eine Kulturtheorie dessen, was er "Trajektorie" nennt, jene Entwicklungslinien des Design aus einer soziokulturellen Perspektive. Dabei macht Gui Bonsiepe seine Arbeits- und Forschungserfahrungen aus vier Jahrzehnten und von drei Kontinenten fruchtbar.


About the Author:

Gui Bonsiepe (geb. 1934 in Glücksburg) studierte an der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm, wo er 1959 sein Studium in der Abteilung Information abschloss und dann im Bereich der Forschung, Entwicklung und Lehre tätig war. Nach Schließung der hfg 1968 siedelte er nach Südamerika über, wo er in öffentlichen technologischen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsinstituten verschiedener Länder als Entwerfer und Berater für Industrialisierungspolitik wirkte. Während einer dreijährigen Praxis in einem Software House in Kalifornien arbeitete er sich Ende der achtziger Jahre in das sich gerade entwickelnde Gebiet des Interfacedesign ein. Nach zehnjähriger Lehrtätigkeit am Fachbereich Design an der Fachhochschule Köln kehrte er 2003 wieder nach Südamerika zurück. Lebt und arbeitet in Brasilien und Argentinien. Parallel zur beruflichen und akademischen Praxis übt er eine intensive publizistische Tätigkeit auf internationaler Ebene aus.
