Wie konnen Kinder in ihrer Entwicklung wirkungsvoll gefordert werden? Welche Faktoren beeinflussen den Bildungserfolg von Kindern? Mit Fragen dieser Art beschaftigen sich seit 2008 die Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler des Frankfurter IDeA-Zentrums. IDeA steht fur Individual Development and Adaptive Education of Children at Risk. Das besondere Augenmerk gilt der individuellen Entwicklung von Kindern mit bildungsrelevanten Risiken in den ersten zwolf Lebensjahren. Betrachtet werden kognitive Beeintrachtigungen, wie etwa Lernstorungen, oder soziale Risikolagen, wie z. B. eine nichtdeutsche Muttersprache, in verschiedenen Bildungskontexten. Im vorliegenden Band wird eine Zwischenbilanz nach sechs Jahren intensiver Forschung am IDeA-Zentrum gezogen. Viele der hier berichteten Erkenntnisse lassen sich unmittelbar mit aktuellen bildungspolitischen Diskussionen und mit Neuerungen der Bildungspraxis verknupfen. Nicht immer stutzen dabei die empirischen Evidenzen die tradierten padagogischen Vorgehensweisen. Anhand der Ergebnisse der wichtigsten Forschungsprojekte aus dem IDeA-Zentrum werden die Entwicklungsverlaufe von Kindern nachgezeichnet, die verschiedenen bildungsrelevanten Risiken ausgesetzt waren. Zudem werden Forderansatze vorgestellt, die in Kenntnis solcher Risiken die Kinder gezielt in ihren Lernprozessen unterstutzen. Weiterhin kommen die professionellen Fachkrafte in den Blick, die in ihrem Berufsalltag die besondere Herausforderung zu bewaltigen haben, Kinder in heterogen zusammengesetzten Gruppen in Krippen, Kindergarten und Grundschulen entsprechend ihrer individuellen Bedurfnisse und Lernausgangslagen optimal zu unterstutzen.
