Elbita Cerrillos is filled with towering frustration upon missing the plane to the United States mainland on Entitlement Day, commonly referred to as E.D., and one of the most significant days in the history of the United States. Elbita, a native of La Perla, along with many Americans, survives the lessons of adapting both to the unknown, and to the neglect indicative of living in a politically lost world. La Perla's hamlet surfaces as the main protagonist in the novel, the center from which Praseans, gypsy dwellers, American novitiates from all walks of life, gargoyles nestled in La Perla's catacombs, and prehistoric creatures, all learn to somehow come together, making not the start they had in mind, granted one heck of an earnest takeoff.
About the Author: After a spiritual retreat in the United Kingdom, L.E. Vega draws a unique correlation between La Perla, a secluded Puerto Rican slum, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Lost World". Originally, she writes a short story depicting La Perla as "Puerto Rico's Lost World". Years later, the author resumes the short story's concept of the hamlet's neglected lost world, expanding it into a full novel. Since her Freshman Year in college, L.E. Vega's dream was to write a novel about an imaginary island as her course to identify with Jonathan Swift, who as an author, satirized without pointing a finger at the colonizer. In her first novel "Ms. Quixote Goes Country - Raised on the Marxist Frontier", the fanciful island emanates as Pracee or Prasea, none other than a symbol of Puerto Rico. The author, who also wrote the children's story "Uva's Song - The Mountain Coquí Hero", spent part of her childhood in Puerto Rico with her well-known and influential family, immersed in a tropical penumbra, a rich playground to evermore reflect upon as an artist and author. Raised in a family of eccentric entrepreneurs and leaders in the island of Puerto Rico, L.E. has been able to achieve a balance between her talents and her sense of spirituality.
