About the Book

This is a detective story, it starts in a city nearby the ocean. The private detective Daniel McGlade (a former boxer and policeman, and an orphan as a child who likes to wear only black) has a nice apartment which overlooks the beach. Later, there is a ride through the countryside and up a mountain to a cabin, Finally, the scene changes to Hong Kong, and then a small island just nearby Hong Kong. The story starts with McGlade waking up one dark night in a deserted street. He had been badly beaten but doesn't remember anything about it. An attractive blonde girl, Julia Jones finds him and helps him to his apartment. McGlade gets flashes in his mind about what happened and tries to retrace his steps. He finds a dead body at an abandoned warehouse and is caught by some gangsters. Once again, Julia Jones helps him, and he escapes. But who is Julia Jones really? McGlade discovers that people are looking for a young Chinese girl named Suzie Q. He goes to Chinatown in the city to look for answers and meets Mr. Wang who seems to be a Chinese gangster. Yak is Mr. Wang's big and silent bodyguard, and Chang is his right-hand man. McGlade then visits his police friend Marshall Tiloni and also sees 'The chief' (police Captain Jeff Turner). They direct McGlade towards a former mob leader named Jack Heller, who has his own gang. Everyone seems to be looking for Suzie Q, but why? He finds a clue and discovers her hiding place on top of a mountain but it is too late. People kill Suzie's mother and kidnap her by helicopter. McGlade discovers a mysterious secret organization and is taken prisoner with Julia Jones and meets Miss Clarke, a cold and austere woman, and her daughter, Felicite, a punk girl who seems to be perverse and likes to torture. They escape, then are taken by Mr. Wang's men who are also looking for Suzie Q. They discover she has been taken to Hong Kong and when they arrive they find she has been taken to a small island. The island has many guards and is being used as a secret base by the mysterious secret organization. A fat man named Mr. X. is the organization's leader and Hugo, a big blonde haired thug who likes to fight, is his right hand man. With the help of Wang, McGlade and Julia go to the island but are caught and tortured. There, McGlade discovers something he never knew, he discovers who his family were, and still are, and how they seem to be tangled up in this affair. The big Hugo is pleased to be able to fight the ex-boxer McGlade, and the fight is staged for everyone to watch. What is Mr. X's plan? Why has everyone been looking for Suzie Q? Who are Julia Jones and Mr. Wang really? Who can really be trusted? How can they now escape the mysterious organization's secret base where they are held prisoner on the island?
