About the Book

A burst of homicide apppears on the dense, overcrowded radar screen of the New York City Police Department. Little attention is paid to these crimes - the victims are criminals, and there is no apparent pattern or motive connecting the killings. Then a number of children, most from the teeming "underclass," disappear. As missing persons they are low-priority data in the ceaseless flood of police statistics. But improbable connections burrow into the mind of Tony Gilmore, Detective First Grade, one of the last specimens of that dying professional title. A vexation to his Police Department commanders, Gilmore's intuitive lines of inquiry are the stuff of investigative legend. As the case develops, his findings draw him and each of his partners into an inescapable confrontation. Gilmore's beautiful, intuitive female partner pays a terrible price for her discoveries. A bi-coastal nightmare unfolds. The remaining three investigators find that their cases, and their lives, have changed utterly. They come to understand that nothing in their long police careers has prepared them to face the ultimate adversary. The urgency intensifies when Gilmore's only son is caught in the deadly perpetrator's web. ENDTIME POLICEMAN is not for the faint of heart
About the Author: Christina I. Clark Rohde was born in Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn NY 18 years before the Verrazano Bridge appeared down the street. Chris is a fiction writer and a journalist whose hundreds of news stories and features have appeared in newspapers of NY and NJ since 1988.She is a web designer and webmaster since 1996 who owns VernonWeb.com and the serial Colonel Rohde's Gazette (swinehurst.com), also managing several other client domains at present. In 2013, Chris Rohde founded Manitou Press, a small and independent publishing concern in northern New Jersey on the New York border. In the 1960s and '70s, Chris worked in radio (traffic, WRVR), and in publishing (editorial, Dial, Little Brown)when it was still "the gentleman's profession." All the editors, authors and agents she knew, here and in England, from that time are already dead. In the 1970's, she was elected vice president of one of the largest NYC municipal labor unions, and later worked for the NYC Mayor's office (Beame, Koch)before taking an appointment in the Courts of New York State, where, as an armed supreme court officer and one of the first "sworn" women officers in Manhattan courtrooms, she was consistently rated a Revolver Expert and won two commendations for bravery. Chris was a Warden of the Grand Jury (robbery, homicide)at 100 Centre Street before leaving in 1984 to stay home and raise her daughters - and to write and, by and by, webpublish. Chris founded Manitou Press in 2013. Both daughters are now scientists, photographers - and writers. A 1968 graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, Christina Clark was the first recipient of the Sophie Kerr Prize, which was and still is the largest undergraduate literary award in the world. Chris and her husband, boatbuilder Al Rohde, live in a lake community in a Northern New Jersey forest, 8 miles from the New York Border.
