Alicia has spent so much of her time focused on keeping Travis safe from the rest of the world. After witnessing the fights with so many young conjurers used as nothing more than entertainment, she realized it was not only Travis that needed safety. She decides that it is time to make the world safe for Travis, rather than hiding Travis and the other young conjurers from the world.
She hatches a plan to create a safe haven for the conjurers, and non-conjurers of the world. A place where they could be educated, inspired, and accepted for who they were. Alicia and Rochelle work together to create plans, although it is still difficult for her and Matthew to see eye to eye. Nicolas and Travis butt heads as Nicolas insists that the only way to protect any of them is by being the one with the most power, as if in some way, the most powerful conjurer is the only safe conjurer.
In order to rescue and protect all of the young conjurers Alicia knows that they will need to stop the fights once and for all, which meant stepping into the ring one last time. Travis is their key back into the fights as he has built a reputation for himself that allows him VIP access to where ever the fights are held.
When the entire fight breaks down into chaos, with conjurers fighting conjurers, and a huge crowd of people struggling to flee, Alicia wonders if she has made a huge mistake. In the end the influence of Raf, one of the most famed conjurers ever to fight inside the ring, makes the difference between certain devastation and victory.
Alicia then acquires a new obsession, how to make the school as safe as possible. While she frets over the security of the students, one truth rises to the surface. As long as men like Elias Arthur fear the unknown, the world will never be safe for anyone who is different.
