Um diese Forschungslücke zu minimieren, widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit der Thematik. Dabei geht es um die Beantwortung folgender Frage: "Welchen Einfluss hat das Employer Branding auf die Mitarbeitergewinnung in kommunalen Unternehmen?". Hierfür werden grundlegende Erkenntnisse aus der vorhandenen Literatur einem Beispiel aus der Praxis gegenübergestellt. Der Einleitung folgt im zweiten Kapitel ein Überblick über den aktuellen Forschungsstand des Employer Brandings, um die Thematik zu verorten und die Notwendigkeit zu begründen. Im Anschluss daran werden die zentralen Ausdrücke der vorliegenden Arbeit im dritten Kapitel dargestellt. In diesem Rahmen folgt eine Bestimmung des Begriffs und der Funktionen des Employer Brandings. Anschließend werden der Prozess und die Maßnahmen des Konzeptes bezüglich der Mitarbeitergewinnung näher erläutert. Ferner schließt sich die Darstellung kommunaler Unternehmen an. Das vierte Kapitel begründet die Wahl des Forschungsdesigns und gibt Auskunft über die angewendete Methodik. Nachfolgend widmet sich das fünfte Kapitel der empirischen Analyse. Dabei bildet die Gewinnung von Auszubildenden den Fokus. Der Vorstellung der Stadtwerke Potsdam GmbH (SWP) im Abschnitt 5.1 folgt die Beschreibung und Analyse des Employer Brandings im Konzern durch den Abschnitt 5.2. Das fünfte Kapitel schließt mit der Darstellung der dabei auftretenden Herausforderungen und einer Empfehlung für das Employer Branding im Rahmen der Gewinnung von Auszubildenden für den betrachteten Konzern ab.
