About the Author: Tedi Ware began training teachers and parents for Western Carolina University in Asheville, NC forty years ago. Since then, she has facilitated workshops for teachers and parents in China, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, and Korea. At the heart of her process-oriented training is highly effective, inclusive communication that nurtures each individual involved. While Tedi was still a teenager, she heard Dr. Haim Ginott, author of Between Parent and Child, explain how to communicate with children. Dr. Ginott was a child psychologist and parent educator who taught parents to never deny a child's feelings. Tedi has dedicated her life's work to carrying out that teaching and expanding upon it to develop her own social/emotional learning programs that honor the sanctity of emotions. Tedi is currently writing children's picture books that promote mindfulness and social/emotional intelligence in young children between the ages of 5 and 8 years old. Empathy Warriors is Tedi's first published book. In these pages, Tedi introduces self-empowerment through: mindful breathing, creative visualizations, empathetic listening and speaking, mindful reflection, affirmations, non-dominant hand journaling, setting and manifesting intentions, and revealing dreams through guided drama. Tedi, currently is offering her unique training programs to schools throughout the US and around the world. Her workshops for Kindergarten through High School students, their teachers and parents, as well as school administrators are all empathy-based, designed to empower participants by developing social/emotional intelligence skills and cultivating mindfulness.
