One of the most enduring pursuits throughout the entire history of humanity has been the search for well-being, happiness, and good life. It takes only a minor excursion into human history to realize that the answers to this question have been extraordinarily diverse. Some people have pursued towards sensual pleasure; others have sought love, the joys of intimate relationships and still others have worked toward the actualization of their potentials, while some significant others have searched for the peace of contemplative spirituality (Compton, 2005; Khan, 2012; Sethi, 2012; Srivastava, 2012). The debate about the relevance of religion is an ongoing one in the modern world. One important view is that the religion is not required, however, if used with a sense of balanceand proportion, it could be beneficial in many ways for everyone, including agnostics and atheists (Luthra, 2019). Spirituality and faith in God has done miracles for people and their faith cannot be judged by anything. Similarly their faith in deities and institution of deity possession play a catalytic role in people's life. According to Smith (2010), the Deity and Spirit Possession in Asian Literature provides a number of ground breaking insights with respect to conceptualizations and methodological approaches to the phenomenon of possession (Āveśa, Praveśa, and Samāveśa) in the Indian traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and more broadly in South Asian religion.
