Did you know that doing this one thing everyday could help you make better decisions and eliminate the tendency to second guess yourself?
Living in the first quarter of the 21st century affords you opportunities that were unimaginable just a generation ago.
You have better technology, more information, and greater choice than any other human, at any other time.
Then why do you often feel overwhelmed and underprepared for the plot twists life seems to enjoy sending your way?
The fact is modern living can be confusing, physically and mentally taxing as well as emotionally draining. For everyone. Don't worry, it isn't just you.
You have less time to make more critical decisions that can have far-reaching consequences for you and your loved ones.
Meanwhile, the world keeps telling you, you should aspire to have it all. Money, power, success, and happiness and all their trappings. What's less clear is how you're to do this, or even if these are worthy goals.
For millennia, Stoicism has cleared a path for practitioners through the maze of difficulties and distractions that make living such a challenge.
You may be new to it as a concept, or familiar with its tenets.
One thing you may be wondering is: how is a philosophy that's thousands of years old going to make a material difference in my life now?
The good news is that Stoicism is a practical philosophy. It is immediately applicable to any situation.
Even better, science is recognising the benefits of the practice.
A 2020 Birkbeck, University of London study found that cognitive therapies based on stoic principles reduced rumination in those prone to anxiety and depression.
Rumination is the habit of repetitive, negative thinking.
The study, which was published in the Cognitive Therapy and Research Journal showed an 18 and 13 percent decrease in rumination among two groups of study participants when compared to the control cohort.
There's certainly enough about modern living to make us anxious and depressed. Do you want to enhance your mental toughness?

How does an ancient philosophy impart all of these advantages? By focusing on what is internal, central, and unchangeable and taking away emphasis from what is external.
Think about how it will feel to not be buffeted by every passing storm of modern life.
This is not an academic text, but rather a practical manual to help you apply Stoicism in your day-to-day living, written in non-technical everyday language that is easy to read.
