About the Book

Having taken our support on Jacques Lacan's theory about melancoly, this takes us to the heart of the whirlwind of the case dElfriede Hirschfeld. Freud, not receding about his oedip's theory, he is required to undergo in his theory of topological deformation to account for this case. An example among other, for example by extending it by a stadium sadique-anal. If the notion of negative therapeutic reaction reflects the failure of this concept, the texts of Freud, his correspondence with his colleagues, the medical record of the clinic of Bellevue in Switzerland, led by Ludwig Binswanger, also indicate us, that he was teached in his clinic by the subject. What will testify Elfriede Hirschfeld during his second stay in psychiatric institution. This patient of Freud whose name is known and disclosed since 1994, as well as some passages from the inventor of psychoanalysis which evoked her, is here the objet of a broader search which motivates the present publication. This research allowed the identification of all the passages where Freud mention implicitly this patient, without ever naming her. The present work integrates also consultation of the medical record established during the four Mrs. Hirschfeld stays at the Bellevue clinic directed by Dr. Ludwig Binswanger. Notes recorded daily by nurses have enabled us to ensure the clinical perspective that gives coherence to these fragments scattered in the work of Freud, in his correspondence, and meetings of the Vienna Psychoanalytical Society. This clinical perspective is melancholy. Begun in 1999, our research ended in 2013 with the identification of the year of death of Ms. H and access to the knowledge of the surname of its parents, which is not without importance, as we shall see.
