The aim of this textbook is to provide undergraduate students of electrical engineering with a unified treatment of all aspects of modern power systems, including the load flow studies, economic considerations, fault analysis, switching transients, electrical power system protection, power system stability, etc. The text systematically deals with the fundamental techniques in power systems, coupled with adequate analytical treatments and references to practices in the field. Special emphasis is placed on the latest developments in power system engineering.
K e y F e a t u r e s :
Offers numerous solved problems with analytical interpretation of results and correlations with practices in the field.
Gives practical-oriented exercise problems that lay emphasis on physical understanding and practices adopted in the field.
Presents exhaustive treatment of polymer insulation used in overhead lines and underground cables.
Provides in-depth treatment of switching transients.
Presents concepts and devices of FACTS (flexible ac transmission system) and HVDC (high voltage dc) transmission.
The book will also be useful to postgraduate students specializing in power system engineering as well as to professional power engineers.About the Author
