Lernen zu verbessern und zu optimieren durch die heutigen Medien, könnte vor allem im Bereich der Hochschulen bzw. Universitäten sinnvoll sein. Da Studenten dort mit komplexen Lerninhalten konfrontiert sind. Durch das Einsetzen von Medien könnte die Möglichkeit gegeben sein, dass das Lernen für die Studierenden einfacher, spannender und interessanter wird. Dies kann wiederum Auswirkungen auf die Motivation haben. Die Studenten der heutigen Zeit haben die Aufgabe, immer selbstständiger und flexibler zu reagieren, um den bestmöglichen Erfolg in ihrem Studium zu erreichen. Könnten diese Aufgaben durch Medien gesteuertes Lernen unterstützt werden? So führt dies zu der Fragestellung: Wie beeinflusst der Einsatz von E-Learning die Flexibilität, Motivation und die Selbstorganisation von Studenten an Hochschulen in der heutigen digitalen Welt? Um diese Fragestellung beantworten zu können, müssen zuerst die Begriffe: "der Flexibilität", "der Motivation" und "der Selbstorganisation" dargestellt werden. Ebenso soll verdeutlicht werden, was unter dem Lernen der heutigen Zeit zu verstehen ist und was der Begriff des "E-Learning" bedeutet. Um das E-Learning optimal zu gestalten, müssen auch die Rahmenbedingungen des E-Learning verstanden werden. Sie werden in zwei Kategorien in dieser Arbeit unterteilt: die Rahmenbedingungen aus der Sicht des Lernenden (der Student/in) und aus der Sicht des Lehrenden (der Professor/in). Daraus werden die Chancen und Risiken des E-Learning abgeleitet. Zum Schluss wird dargestellt, was der Unterschied zwischen E-Learning und dem konventionellen Lernen ist.
