About the Book

This book is a novel approach to the age-old "Earth Meets Alien" story. The totally benevolent, highly advanced Belarians want the people of Earth to continue their mission of seeking life throughout the galaxy.

A quantum leap in spaceflight capability set the Belarians on a journey, the scope of which even they did not realize for many years. Warp drive, having been a scientific theory for more than 2,000 years, became a reality. The Belarians were now able to explore vast volumes of the galaxy in only a few hundred years. But the galaxy is too vast for just a few dozen ships to explore. The scope of the Belarian Initiative needed to be greatly expanded. The new Initiative provided for the design and construction of 500 multi-generational, warp-driven starships. The paramount goal, the Prime Objective, was to find intelligent, benevolent life with which the Belarians could communicate and share cultures and technology.

The year is 2008 and Bill Weller, a 46 year-old NASA engineer at Kennedy Space Center, is about to meet an alien, Capt. Kroy, who will offer him an unbelievable opportunity. The Belarians have selected him to become the next Captain of the Belarian starship. Why did they choose him? What makes him qualified to Captain a 10-mile diameter starship? Who will he choose to help him? What adventures await him and his new Senior Officers?

Bill Weller and his 12,000-member Earth crew will explore the Milky Way Galaxy and discover the Fountain, an artificially created system of 7,000,000 wormholes leading to millions of galaxies throughout the universe. Will they find the aliens who created the Fountain? Where are they now? What artifacts and clues did they leave behind for others to find?

Join Bill and his Earth crew as they explore the Milky Way Galaxy, the Andromeda Galaxy, many strange and beautiful planets, and must deal with missile attacks and political turmoil here at home before beginning their mission.
About the Author:

Bill Williams was born and raised in Clinton, Kentucky, attended Murray State University for two years, then transferred to the University of Kentucky, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1967.

After graduation, Bill joined NASA at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where he worked as a systems engineer, NASA Test Director, Convoy Commander, and Technology Transfer Manager, on the Apollo Program, Apollo-Soyuz Program, Skylab Program, Viking-Mars Program, and the Space Shuttle Program. He met his wife, Sandy, in California while working on the Space Shuttle Approach and Landing Test Program in 1976.

Bill retired from NASA in January of 2001 after 34 years of government service and moved to Australia with Sandy and their son, Jonathan. Sandy is a native Australian and wished to return to her homeland. While in Australia, they purchased a home in Croydon, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, and a small farm in South Gippsland near the small town of Leongatha. After three years, they returned to Florida. In June of 2012, Bill and his family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where Sandy took a position with the Air Force on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

After 2 years working there, Sandy took a job with the Health Dept. in Howell, MI, where they now love.

While writing this novel, Bill drew on his years of experience with NASA and his life-long love of science fiction, and modeled many of the characters after co-workers and a childhood friend. Those people will recognize their personalities as they surface throughout the novel. After keeping this work on the back burner for 30 years, Bill began writing in August of 2009 and finished five months later.
