La literatura no es la vida, es lo vivido y lo no vivido. La materia con la que se construye la vida es la vida misma; la literatura se alimenta de esa materia, pero no llega a ser vida más que como percepción, lectura, composición arbitraria, reflejo. Sin embargo, en la obra literaria opera, como una metáfora, el mismo caos imperceptible de la vida. Todos los caminos inconclusos en la obra, la lectura imposible, son la obra inexistente. En la vida misma estos caminos han sido andados por los personajes y su paso final lo constituye una balada filosófica, existencial. Un devenir concretizado, material y tangible, historiable, percibido por la infinidad de personajes que circulan en derredor de sí mismos. Los protagónicos, los seres que captan la atención prioritaria en la obra son hijos de la elección arbitraria del autor. La obra no sólo emula la vida, sino que es vida en tanto percepción de la vida, discurso inmerso en otro discurso, devenir de la vida en tanto devenir perpetuo. Pero se detiene, cifra un momento abierto, produce un agujero en el lienzo del discurso. El hombre capta su esencia básica de perceptor de sí mismo en la lectura de la obra, es decir, en la escritura. La arbitrariedad de ser hombre, pavesa o ceniza, átomo ebrio en el espacio, toda posibilidad volátil termina al detener el devenir en el tiempo de la obra. Cada autor escribe desde una terraza, desde una enorme plataforma en la que comunica su espacio. Romper los límites de las terrazas, abrazar más lejos con las palabras, ir al destino en que todo se funde, a los canales, a los vasos comunicantes, a los intersticios imprevistos, a los recovecos de la imaginación, a los personajes no existentes, a los sitios donde hombre o mujer son arbitrariedad pura, lo mismo que animal, molécula o danza espacial; en fin, ir más allá de la percepción de la vida, de la finalidad en la literatura (Deconstrucción). Por ello la literatura también es devenir, lo no vivido. Dar vida a lo vivido y a lo no vivido. En El mundo es un puñado de polvo, el autor se ha sumergido en los personajes para entresacar de sus vivencias un orden aparente y caótico que únicamente emula los fragmentos de sus vidas. Ha visitado y desmontado los códigos de su comunicación con su propia experiencia para volver a construir un universo similar, es decir, distinto e idéntico al caos de la vida. El autor se esfuerza por mostrarnos a sus jóvenes personajes circunscritos a un espacio y a un momento concreto en la historia contemporánea de Honduras. Una colección de vivencias violentas de seres sumergidos, atrapados en su microhistoria, a la manera de un enjambre de moléculas que se entrechocan y mueren en el afán de encontrar caminos que únicamente les lleva a un devenir mortal. No hay certeza en ninguna de las salidas, no hay manera de escapar al cruce de dos adjetivos simultáneos, de un verbo violento atacando a un sustantivo. En el lenguaje está la vida, la vivencia, la experiencia caótica de la vida. En cada ramalazo de imágenes se pone de manifiesto un fragmento de vida que fue real, histórica, sangre común y corriente que brilló y se apagó en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. No es un exceso de realidad ni un afán desnaturalizado por revivir la historia ni la anécdota de los jóvenes de finales del siglo XX en Honduras. Tampoco es una proyección interesada hacia lo social, es decir, inclinada hacia una visión sociológica. Tampoco es el relato de un recuerdo, de una aventura en un safari por las franjas de la marginalidad juvenil hondureña.
