El maletín rojo es la metáfora de una memoria; memoria a la que acude el autor, como recurso literario, para mostrarnos la importancia de su permanencia como fuente de conocimiento; recurso con el que muchos autores nos han deslumbrado llevándonos a espacios sólo vividos por ellos trasmitiéndonos sus emociones. La protagonista de la obra mantiene un monólogo con el maletín de viaje, único compañero de sus aventuras, en un intento por desasirse de los recuerdos ante esa duda, que a todos nos golpea, de si fue el tiempo pasado el que modeló el tiempo presente o si éste es parte de una identidad. Los viajes, metáfora también, forman parte del devenir de la vida, de la que todos formamos parte, y que va modelando el espíritu del caminante para decirnos con palabras del poeta: Caminante, no hay camino sino estelas en la mar...

Los personajes, que aparecen a lo largo de la obra, son un muestrario de caracteres que se cruzan en nuestro camino; personajes sencillos la mayoría que vivieron en un tiempo en el que hoy nos puede llenar de asombro, pero es precisamente su sencillez la que nos trasmite ternura.

LA AUTORA

Pepita Jiménez Carreras

Pepita Jiménez Carreras nace en Madrid. Finalizado los estudios obligatorios comienza su vida laboral, que alternará con estudios de Secretariado, Bachillerato y Magisterio como alumna libre. Obtiene plaza en Jaén como maestra y desde allí continúa con los estudios, también como alumna libre, de Filosofía y Letras licenciándose en Pedagogía. De vuelta a Madrid se instala en Alcalá de Henares como profesora de: Párvulos y Primaria en el colegio Nebrija; en el Instituto Albéniz como profesora de Lengua y Literatura. En esta Universidad se doctora en Filología Hispánica con la tesis La comunicación epistolar entre María Zambrano y José Lezama Lima. Análisis Semiótico (año 2004).

Ha publicado los siguientes libros:

En cuanto a su trayectoria poética se remonta al período adolescente convirtiéndose en lectora y estudiosa de la poesía, tanto de la poesía castellana como de la anglosajona. En el plano narrativo admira a los novelistas del siglo XIX de cualquier país europeo, a los hispanos del siglo XX y a los autores de Literatura Fantástica. Entre los muchos autores leídos figuran, como los de más interés por su profundidad y contenido: Robert Mussil, Marcel Prouts, Fédor Dostoyevski y un largo etc., lecturas que alterna con los temas históricos, en especial la Historia Antigua. Cada cierto tiempo consulta algunas lecturas de El Quijote que le ayudan a comprender la actualidad tanto política como narrativa.
