About the Author: Horacio Vázquez-Rial (Buenos Aires, 1947 - Madrid 2012) Doctor en Geografía e Historia por la Universidad de Barcelona. Escritor de amplia producción tanto literaria como ensayística. Ganador en 2006 del Premio Generación del 27 por El cuñado de Nietzsche y otros viajes y el Premio La otra orilla del Grupo Editorial Norma por El camino del norte; en 2003 ganó el V Premio de Novela Fernando Quiñones por su novela La capital del olvido; y finalista de varios otros premios, entre ellos el Premio Nadal 1986 con su novela Historia del Triste y el Premio Internacional de Novela Plaza & Janés 1989, con su novela La reina de oros. Autor además de las novelas: Segundas personas (1983), El viaje español (1985), Oscuras materias de la luz (1986), Los últimos tiempos (1991), La isla inútil (1991), Frontera sur (1994), El soldado de porcelana (1997), El maestro de los ángeles (1997), La pérdida de la razón (1999), Las leyes del pasado (2000), Las dos muertes de Gardel (2001) y Revolución (2002). Ha escrito ensayos: La Guerra Civil española: una historia diferente (1996), La formación del país de los argentinos (1999), La izquierda reaccionaria (2003), Hombres solos (2004), Perón, tal vez la historia (2005) y Santiago de Liniers (2012) Ha dirigido los volúmenes colectivos Buenos Aires 1880-1930 y En defensa de Israel. Sus obras han sido traducidas al alemán, inglés, portugués, griego, italiano y rumano. Fue colaborador y asesor de varias editoriales, escribió guiones cinematográficos, prologuista de numerosas obras literarias, columnista habitual en varios medios de prensa, traductor, docente y conferenciante. Su obra completa -importante y consistente- incluye treinta y cuatro libros de ficción, cuento y ensayo.
