Toda la obra de Paulo Padrós Garzón es muy interesante, entretenida y comprometida con la realidad de los más débiles. "El hombre más insultado del mundo" es el primer libro de la Serie Roja de cuentos y relatos, y está conformado por una serie de relatos irónicos e irreverentes, con algunas pinceladas de humor satírico, y siempre con ese reclamo social que se refleja a lo largo de toda su literatura. En el cuento "Se murió don Antonio" se muestra de manera tragicómica la vida de algunos ancianos junto a su empedernida soledad, el peso de los recuerdos y cómo las obligaciones cotidianas los van alejando de sus afectos más cercanos. "Estrellas y tesoros" es una entrañable historia de amor, (en realidad dos historias de amor), que perviven a lo largo del tiempo, encabalgándose entre los párrafos del relato de manera hábil. En este cuento se muestra de manera evidente la necesidad de hacerle una segunda o tercera vista a cada renglón de los relatos de Padrós Garzón, ya que muchas veces encierran mucha información entrelazada de manera sutil que podría escaparse ante una simple primer lectura. En el cuento "El hombre más insultado del mundo," Carlos Chachaminga es un hombre común y corriente a quien se le despierta la necesidad urgente de darle un destino trascendente a su vida, pero para conseguirlo utiliza los métodos más inusuales, que sin embargo terminan despertando una voz de alarma en quienes lo rodean. En relatos como "Las fotos," un anciano abogado se enfrenta a la muerte, con quien discute de igual a igual tanto la vida pasada como las vicisitudes del amor. Una vez más el amor, y es que toda la obra de Padrós Garzón parece estar atravesada por los estigmas del amor, de la lucha, de la gran fortaleza del hombre pequeño ante su inexorable destino. Otro elemento presente, tanto en este libro como en el resto de los trabajos de Garzón, es el de la presencia de la divinidad, de los ángeles, de una relación difícil y conflictiva entre el hombre y su dios, como podemos ver en relatos como "El discípulo de Cristo," "Lapsis Angelus," o "El ángel albino," éstos últimos de una gran originalidad y maestría, en donde se contrasta la realidad moderna, urbana de Lapsis Angelus con el estilo cuasi decimonónico de El ángel albino. De igual modo, los relatos "Un día de trabajo" y "Nuestro secreto" tienen argumentos modernos en los cuales, con claras influencias de Clarice Lispector, se describen de manera sensual lo intrincado de las relaciones entre dos parejas que se animan a amarse con todo lo que ello implica, en secreto o mostrándose desnudos entre las medias de la ropa tendida. En resumen, definitivamente éste es un libro entretenido, para leerlo con mucho buen humor y poca indignación.
