About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The Color of Freedom continues the memoirs that Nelson Mandela published in Long Walk to Freedom.

This is the extraordinary story of a country in transition and the challenges that the Nobel prize winner faced while fighting to realize his dream of a free South Africa.

The Color of Freedom is the story of Mandela's presidential years, a work based to a large degree on the memoirs that he started to write as his term was ending, but which he never finished. Now, prestigious South African writer Mandla Langa has finished the work, using Mandela's unfinished draft, the detailed notes that the president took while the events were unfolding, and an immense amount of classified information.

With a prologue by Mandela's widow, Graça Machel, the result is a vivid, often inspiring tale about Mandela's presidency and the creation of a new democracy.
