El Cadejo es un perro mítico y surrealista que ha existido durante siglos en América Central, el sur de México y otras partes de América Latina, y aún continúa viajando por el mundo. En realidad, son dos tipos de perros: el Cadejo Negro y el Cadejo Blanco, que representan la eterna lucha del Bien contra el Mal. Esta criatura legendaria es eterna, y a través de su historia se describen temas culturales y desarrollan conflictos de razas, intrigantes problemáticas políticas e históricas que vienen desde la Conquista y la Colonización, luchas contra los indígenas. Y todo dentro de un ambiente de magia y surrealismo, en el que resalta la propagación del coronavirus y el afán por encontrar la vacuna contra esta terrible enfermedad que azota el mundo.


A lo largo de la novela, el Duende desafía a su propio padre, quien es el Cadejo en su version malévola. El Duende es un niño prodigio de diez años que surgió en un pequeño pueblo rural de El Salvador, donde amaba y admiraba las plantas, entre ellas la flor de izote y el chipilín. Con estas plantas crea la vacuna para prevenir y curar la COVID-19. Su hermano gemelo, el Cipitío, ha sido presidente de los Estados Unidos y su madre ha logrado ya convertirse en la primera mujer papisa, que ahora vive en el Vaticano, donde hace sopa de chipilín y flor de izote con huevos revueltos.

Con este libro se completa la trilogía de esta saga, que incluye Las vida y los tiempos del Cipitio, parte 1; La Siguanaba y el loroco mágico, parte 2; El Cadejo entre el Bien y el Mal, parte 3.
