About the Book

English description: story full of adventures but with an atmosphere of nostalgia.
It tells of the shipwreck of a boat full of children, and the frienship between an old man, the sea, and a little boy.
Thus begins the tale of an incredible but true story: that of a group of children who decided to imitate the crusaders and set out on a surprising journey.
It is a precious story that will move both young and old, penned by one of the finest writers in the Spanish language.
Fonchito, a character from Vargas Llosa's previous children's book, goes every day to visit an old man who watches the sea, as though waiting for something: a boat filled with children that was shipwrecked on a journey to France. But the story isn't sad; it's full of the life that was on that boat, of the adventures that awaited them, of the episodes that still live on in the memory of Fonchito's old friend ... which he now shares with the little boy, so that he can be an optimistic witness to all the possible worlds that lie beyond this one.
