Liliana Castillo escucha los materiales y elementos naturales con los que trabaja. Con ellos comparte sus historias y secretos, en una especie de terapia recíproca. Un trabajo donde se produce una conexión entre artista y materia, que busca liberar ambos de nudos y ataduras para comenzar una nueva vida.

La madera reciclada es la materia elegida en su proceso creativo, para lograr ese vínculo con cada una de sus esculturas. En primer lugar, reconoce las historias abstractas que atesora, observa sus formas y sus oscuras cicatrices, fruto de la fuerza de la naturaleza. Cuando comienza a trabajar el material, siente cómo esas experiencias a modo de cicatrices se trasladan y enlazan con sus vivencias y ciclos de vida. Se trata de un proceso en el que revive y sana las experiencias negativas de su vida.

Las heridas de la vida, cuando no son sanadas, se vuelven cada vez más complicadas de limpiar. Las esculturas de Liliana son el resultado de un duro trabajo para lograr eliminar esas marcas. Curar esas cicatrices que se reflejan superficialmente como indicador de heridas mucho más profundas. En esta transformación, donde se produce un diálogo entre la vida de la artista y la vida del material, se busca mostrar la verdadera esencia. Nosotros mismos, al igual que sucede en la creación de estas obras, podemos trabajar nuestras heridas, transformarlas en aprendizaje y seguir adelante con más fuerza.

Su forma de trabajar capa a capa, etapa a etapa, posibilita ir descubriendo las necesidades de las diferentes piezas. Cada una de ellas necesita un tipo de tratamiento diferente, su propio proceso de sanación, al igual que las diferentes etapas de vida necesitan sus propios tipos de tratamientos curativos. Se trata de trabajar las partes más necesitadas, aceptando las marcas propiciadas en diversos momentos vitales. Una labor de aceptación que explora lo más profundo para poder mejorar y avanzar en nuestro camino. De ahí que el hecho de poder desvelar la verdadera esencia y belleza que esconden sus obras haga que el propio interior de la artista también se sienta libre.

En su afán por trabajar con madera reciclada, aparecen en la vida de Liliana una serie de piezas procedentes de árboles que habían sufrido tormentas eléctricas en Rusia. Esos troncos retorcidos, quemados y olvidados eran la materia prima que estaba buscando. La fuerza de estos fragmentos de madera de olmo, que fueron golpeados por la furia de la naturaleza, emerge en formas de siluetas casi prehistóricas. De este modo, a través de su madera y la resina se convierte en la narradora de su historia, siempre respetando y cuidando del medio ambiente.

En este camino terapéutico, se busca sacar a relucir la belleza de lo olvidado, desconocido y desechado. Un trabajo que resalta la esencia perdida, que descubre la propia belleza. El arte se presenta como una poderosa herramienta que permite expresar y transmitir aquello que, por algún motivo, no puede ser escuchado. Liliana Castillo ha vivido diversas situaciones complicadas a lo largo de su vida. Fuertes tropiezos y errores que requirieron de mucha valentía y determinación para volver a ponerse en pie y luchar por una segunda vida. El arte se ha convertido en la ayuda necesaria para sacudirse todas sus heridas, consiguiendo reparar su interior con vitalidad. Y es que su arte tiene mucho que ver con eso de conceder nuevas oportunidades y nuevas vidas.
