Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Bei den meisten von uns löst trotz der in Teilen inzwischen relativ weit gediehenen Integration behinderter Menschen bereits der Begriff der „geistigen Behinderung" Unbehagen und Unsicherheit aus. Dabei unterscheidet sich offensichtlich die Qualität von Förderung und Integration zwischen körperlich, geistig und seelisch behinderten Menschen immens, wenn wir uns das häufig formulierte Argument der geringen Leistungsfähigkeit geistig Behinderter vergegenwärtigen. Leistungsfähigkeit wird hier fast ausschließlich in Verbindung mit Lernleistung gesehen. Nicht zuletzt die vorrangig bestehende Assoziation von Förderung und Integration mit dem Thema Schule widerspiegelt die tiefe Spaltung zwischen emotionalen, sozialen und kognitiven Förder- und Integrationsstrategien zuungunsten geistig Behinderter. Diese Form von Spaltung setzt sich offenbar auf der wissenschaftlichen und praktischen Ebene fort, wo diese uns dazu bewegt zu glauben, daß schulische Integration geistig Behinderter ausschließlich auf der sozialen, wohl mehr solidarischen Ebene gelingen kann, die geistige Förderung allerdings nur durch eine angeblich effektivere, stark binnendifferenzierte, also detailliert vorausgeplante und verplante schulische Besonderung gelingen könne. Die weitaus effektivere Organisation von Lern- und Lebensraum durch den geistig Behinderten selbst, die sich letztendlich in der Möglichkeit des Behinderten wiederfindet, selbstbestimmt in jedem seiner Entwicklungsabschnitte geeignete soziale und emotionale Beziehungen zu knüpfen, wird meines Erachtens bei den Betroffenen wesentlich behindert. Die schier unüberwindlichen räumlichen und zeitlichen Entwicklungsbarrieren sind nicht selten die eigentliche Ursache für viele Formen emotionaler Behinderungen, die sich in den häufig bei geistig Behinderten auftretenden psychiatrischen Störungen materialisieren und in Folge den Anschein einer im Betroffenen selbst zu suchenden Behinderung erwecken. „Behindertsein oder b
