Die Branchenstrukturanalyse soll sowohl die aktuellen Strukturveränderungen in der Reisebürobranche als auch die Spielregeln der Branche ermitteln. Anschließend wird basierend aus den gewonnenen Erkenntnissen der Branchenstrukturanalyse untersucht, ob und inwiefern der stationäre Vertrieb mit der Nutzung von VR auf den Änderungsdruck reagieren kann und sich damit langfristig Wettbewerbsvorteile sichert. Daraus ergeben sich zwei grundlegende Forschungsfragen für die Arbeit: Welche Veränderungen und Spielregeln ergeben sich aus der Branchenstrukturanalyse für ein Reisebüro und auf welcher Grundlage der Branchenveränderung ist der Einsatz von VR im Reisebüro sinnvoll, um eine langfristige Überlebensfähigkeit der Reisebüros zu sichern? Im zweiten Kapitel werden die theoretischen Grundlagen auf Basis einer Literatur- und Internetrecherche behandelt. Zuerst wird der zentrale Begriff des Tourismus definiert und die Tourismuswirtschaft im engeren Sinne erläutert. Es erfolgt eine Vorstellung des touristischen Vertriebssystems mit seinen unterschiedlichen Vertriebskanälen, welche ausschlaggebend für das Verstehen der Strukturveränderungen in der Reisebürobranche sind. Daraufhin wird auf die Struktur des Reisemittlermarktes und die Nutzung des Reisebüros durch Reiseinteressenten eingegangen. Im folgenden dritten Kapitel wird der theoretische Schwerpunkt von VR erörtert. Zunächst wird der Begriff von VR definiert und die Qualitäten von VR beschrieben. Daraufhin wird die technische Umsetzung von VR behandelt. Anschließend wird die zukünftige Entwicklung von VR prognostiziert. Im vierten Kapitel erfolgt die Branchenstrukturanalyse für ein Reisebüro auf Grundlage
