Kreative Ideen und Lösungen gewinnen in Zeiten des globalen Wettbewerbs immer mehr an Bedeutung. Während sich Produkte und Dienstleistungen mehr und mehr angleichen, bedarf es kreativer Innovationen, um trotz steigender Wettbewerbsintensitäten den Unternehmenserfolg nachhaltig zu sichern. Daher setzen Unternehmen vermehrt Kreativität als Schlüsselkompetenz bei der Auswahl der Mitarbeiter voraus. Es liegt in der Natur des Menschen, Vorgänge rational zu beleuchten und Probleme strukturiert zu lösen. Dabei werden gewohnte Muster und Arbeits- abläufe eingesetzt. Jedoch werden durch rationales Denken keine Innovationen oder kreative Ideen entwickelt. Es bedarf dem kreativen Potenzial des Einzelnen, um auch in Zukunft den Unternehmenserfolg zu sichern. Zur Förderung dieses Potenzials wurden seit den 1960er Jahren zahlreiche Kreativitätstechniken entwickelt. Zwar existiert heute eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen Methoden zur Kreativitätsförderung, dennoch haben sie alle eines gemein: der Mensch soll seine gewohnte, rationale Denkweise verlassen und das Problem von außen betrachten. Neue Ideen und Lösungen sollen zunächst fernab von der Frage nach ihrer Realisierbarkeit oder Effizienz generiert werden. Oftmals entstehen so aus anfangs nicht umsetzbaren Ideen, neue Lösungen und Innovationen. Kreativitätstechniken lassen sich in drei Vorgehensweisen unterteilen: intuitiv, systematisch und eine Kombination dieser. Hierzu werden in Kapitel 3 die unterschiedlichen Vorgehensweisen jeweils anhand einer ausgewählten Methode erläutert. Anhand fiktiver Praxisbeispiele sollen die Methoden und ihre Abläufe veranschaulicht werden. Abschließend wird in Kapitel 4 erläutert, inwieweit Kreativitätstechniken für Führungskräfte in Unternehmen von Bedeutung sind
