Er müsste sich selbst neu verorten in einer Gleichberechtigung, für die er noch nicht bereit zu sein scheint. Wir leben auf diesem Planeten in einer Gemeinschaft mit Tieren. Die Regeln des Zusammenlebens wurden von uns durch pure Willkür festgelegt. Ein derartiges Verhalten aber passt nicht zu einem Wesen, das sich selbst als moralisch handelnd und vernünftig betrachtet." 2014 erschienen unter dem Titel: "Die wir Tiere nennen" wurde die Geschichte aufgrund der zunehmenden Fülle an Erkenntnissen maßgeblich erweitert und überarbeitet. Wenngleich die Handlung dieser Geschichte Fiktion ist, so sind die wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse über die sensorischen und kognitiven Fähigkeiten der höheren Tiere jedoch keine Fiktion. Sie entsprechen weitestgehend dem Wissenstand von 2016.
About the Author: Geboren in Bremerhaven, studierte ich Geografie und Geologie in Bonn. Ich arbeitete zunächst im staatlichen Naturschutz, dann freiberuflich als Stadt- und Landschaftsplanerin, landschaftsökologische Gutachterin, TV-Autorin, Übersetzerin und Malerin. Tiere, ob wild oder zahm, ob in Theorie oder Praxis, waren meine ständigen Begleiter. Ich habe einen fast erwachsenen Sohn, lebte auf Neuseeland und in Belgien und wohne jetzt in Aachen. Natürlich vegan und stets mit dem Rad unterwegs.
