The "Surf Soup" series is a children's book series written and illustrated by Donna Kay Lau, an Emmy honored award-winning TV animator. The first book, "EggOh Too! Broadcasting Love," follows the adventure of EggOh, a part rooster and part peacock character, as he meets new friends and goes on an adventure to broadcast love. The book is set on the tropical island and beach of Surf Soup, which is also the title of the cartoon and book series. Auntie Donna, the author, is an animator and artist who draws inspiration from her daily life in her art studio. The book is the beginning of a series of stories featuring EggOh and other Surf Soup characters.

EggOh' is a part rooster and part peacock, and he has hatched out of his egg, and finds a new friend 'Bear in a chance meeting in the sky.' They find themselves floating in the sky together helping each other out. Bear is scheming to get the honey while "EggOh" just wants to Broadcast Love. Until a slight explosion happens the adventure takes a turn and Auntie has to "draw" them out of trouble.
An adventure straight out of Auntie Donna's imagination. Auntie Donna is an animator and wants to start her children's book series and feels fear and doubt since this is a new space for her, after all, she has made television cartoons for years. As she sits in her art studio creating her stories day after day she is intimidated to share her stories.
Auntie Donna loves creating her stories and has so many she just can't stop playing with her characters (a true story)...until she picks up a favorite childhood book she finds the courage after reading from the book she draws her character with her teddy bear and starts the long-awaited 'Surf Soup' series. It seems less intimidating to her so Auntie draws out her adventure and "EggOh' wanted to be in her first story. EggOh' was created in Auntie Donna"s studio when she needed a character to represent "Surf Soup" on her social media. He was named after the egg (idea that hatched).
Donna Kay Lau is the creator of "Surf Soup", Artist, Author, TV Animator - Lau worked at Nickelodeon Animation, and Cartoon Network, working on productions: Emmy award-winning 'Dora the Explorer', 'CatDog', 'Oswald the Octopus, ' 'Generator Rex, ' Ben 10', & "Regular Show, ' and her current project 'Surf Soup' cartoon & books! Lau has also been creating "Augmented Reality." and Animated shorts to complement the book.
