La meditazione può concentrarsi sulla respirazione, su un mantra o un suono calmante. -Meditazione di monitoraggio aperto. Questo stile incoraggia una maggiore consapevolezza di tutti gli aspetti del proprio ambiente, della linea di pensiero e del senso di sé. Può includere la presa di coscienza di pensieri, sentimenti o impulsi repressi. Se il normale ambiente di lavoro e domestico non consente di passare del tempo da solo in modo costante e tranquillo si può anche decidere di partecipare a un corso, ricevendo anche supporto da una comunità.
