Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Journalismus, Publizistik, Note: 1,3, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (WISO ), Veranstaltung: Allgemeine Kommunikationswissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Den Konjunkturerwartungen in der deutschen Bevölkerung wurde im Dezember 2011 das Ende eines Abwärtstrends vorhergesagt. Ein entsprechender Index ist zum ersten Mal seit Mitte 2011 wieder gestiegen (GfK SE, 2011a, S.1). Schon im Februar 2012 musste derselbe Index allerdings wieder einen Dämpfer hinnehmen, berichtete etwa FOCUS Online (Shopping statt Krise..., 2012). Solche Analysen zu den wirtschaftlichen Erwartungen in der Bevölkerung aggregieren meist eine Vielzahl individueller Befragungen zu einem Bild, das die Gesamtbevölkerung repräsentiert. Indem entsprechende Indizes regelmäßig über Massenmedien veröffentlicht werden, ist ein Einfluss dieses Konjunkturklimas auf die Berichterstattung zu Themen, die Konjunktur bzw. die Wirtschaft im Allgemeinen betreffen, wahrscheinlich (Hagen, 2005, S. 22). Nun muss man sich andersherum die Frage stellen, ob nicht auch von einem Effekt der Medien auf die wirtschaftlichen Erwartungen in der Bevölkerung ausgegangen werden muss. Diese Frage soll im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit stehen. Massenmedien sind Vermittler von Informationen, freilich auch zu ökonomischen Themen. In dieser Funktion verbreiten sie wirtschaftliche Entwicklungen schneller unter der Bevölkerung, als wenn die Individuen einer Gesellschaft diese Informationen über die Realwirtschaft aufnehmen müssten (Wörsdorfer, 2005, S. 339). Folglich ist es wahrscheinlich, dass sich Einzelpersonen eher von der medial vermittelten Realität beeinflussen lassen, wenn es um die wirtschaftlichen Erwartungen geht, als von den wirtschaftlichen Entwicklungen selbst.
