Asimismo las redes sociales como páginas Web, permiten a personas registradas crear contactos con otros a través de redes de amigos en común, con la finalidad de establecer comunicación y relaciones entre personas con intereses mutuos, esta herramientas pueden potencian la creatividad de sus usuarios, en especial la de los jóvenes. Una de las redes sociales más populares es "FaceBook" (FB), fundada en 2004. El objetivo general de la presente investigación es analizar los efectos que ha generado la utilización de FB, en una población de estudiantes universitarios, tanto en lo social, lo académico, como en sus relaciones interpersonales. El alcance del estudio es exploratorio. El principal instrumento utilizado fue un cuestionario diseñado en base a las escalas psicométricas de Likert y la taxonomía de Bloom del pensamiento crítico, el cual incluye preguntas abiertas agrupadas en 5 secciones; Perfil socio-demográfico, Dependencia a FB, Impactos de FB en la vida académica, Convivencia interpersonal y Uso del lenguaje en FB. La población de estudio consistió 560 alumnos de 6 diferentes carreras a nivel licenciatura en diferentes cuatrimestres en una universidad privada localizada en Los Altos de Jalisco, México. Los resultados ponen en evidencia el uso frecuente de esta red social por parte de los estudiantes universitarios con diversas finalidades, el 77% de los encuestados afirman que dejan de hacer sus labores cotidianas por estar conectados a FB,
