Peter C. Cropsey's Dead Man Waking introduced us to Eddie Wilkins, the heroin addict, criminal lowlife, punk in a tattoo suit, and revealed how even a scumbag like him has a heart-and hope for restoration.
Eddie continues the desperate man's story as he sets out on a spiritual journey, with challenge after challenge stacked against him. While many conversion stories end with someone recognizing and accepting Christ, Eddie's account reminds us that there is still a long road ahead and many discouraging setbacks to overcome.
Follow Eddie as he returns to his old life and struggles to share his newfound hope with his friends, while still feeling the claws of addiction. As he tries to navigate the lies that have kept him trapped for years guided by the truth he's only recently learned, everything and everyone seem to be working against him.
Can Eddie be freed from his past once and for all? Will God save his friends, too? Or are they all doomed to a miserable existence because of the bad choices they've made?
About the Author: Peter C. Cropsey was raised in Laguna Beach, California-the epicenter of the free-love drug culture during the late sixties and early seventies. By age twelve, he'd taken LSD and was using hash and marijuana on a daily basis. By age fourteen, he'd overdosed on heroin and been arrested on burglary and felony drug charges. Around that time, he was introduced to the Gospel and accepted Christ as his savior. But it wasn't until many years later-after a lifetime of addiction and prison time-that Cropsey finally chose to follow God and experienced a transformed life.
In 2001, Cropsey graduated from the Calvary Chapel School of Ministry and moved to Hawaii to plant Calvary Chapel North Shore in Kauai, where he pastored for two years before returning to Southern California. Currently, he pastors First Love Church in Costa Mesa. He is happily married and blessed with children.
