About the Book

When Jeffrey Rosenbloom, Salvatore "Sal" Greco, Mike Costanzo, and Ted Mosconi met in Cub Scouts at Saint Rocco's Catholic Church in Pittston, Pennsylvania, they knew they wanted to be friends. So, they made a pact-they would be "friends-for-life." Nothing and no one would ever break up their group, not even mean, old, grouchy Sister Ursula, who took them out of alphabetical order to banish them to the four corners of her classroom at Saint Rocco's School. Accompanying their resolve was the nagging question, "Would they change the way they played the game or would they change the game itself?" Love, religion, two failed marriages, illness, and family would test their mettle collectively throughout their lives. Their culture and a strong work ethic would help them defend against unwanted transformation. When circumstances didn't threaten their core values, they went with the flow-a part of fitting in; when circumstances defied their deep-seated principles, they stood firm-a part of being your own person; when circumstances warranted, they reinvented themselves-a part of growth. Throughout their maturation, each sought answers to life's questions; at times, they discovered resolutions and at other times, their quest only generated more questions. Regardless, each became his own person. "On Becoming Us" describes how these four friends dealt with life's challenges, how they overcame their obstacles, and how they survived- no, how they thrived.
About the Author: Guy S. Fasciana has always enjoyed writing. At first, college term papers created on a typewriter he borrowed from a next-door neighbor. They didn't have computers then. When he started dental practice, he wrote a patient pamphlet entitled, "Does Your Lifestyle Prevent Health or Prevent Disease," The booklet was about health in general and dentistry in particular. After he developed asthma due to an exposure to dental materials, he terminated his dental practice, wrote a non-fiction book, "Are Your Dental Fillings Poisoning You?" and went to graduate school. In graduate school, while studying for a Master's in Health Education and another Master's in Sport Psychology, he wrote term papers about health, wellness, exercise, and the effect your thoughts have on your health. Some of the articles included: "The Relationship between Stress and Health," "How Stress Affects the Immune System," "How Exercise Intensity Affects the Immune System," "The Psychological Benefits of Exercise in Rehabilitation," and "Can Subliminal Communication Enhance Performance?" He elected to write two-master's theses instead of taking oral exams. After graduate school, he wrote his second non-fiction book, "Golf's Mental Magic: Four Strategies for Mental Toughness" while teaching Sports Psychology at the University of Arizona. He is a frequent writer of editorials about health and medicine in Greenville, South Carolina newspapers. "On Becoming Us" is his first fiction book. You can find more information about his life or about his writing on his website, guysfasciana.com.
