About the Book

The Echoes of Life's Circle is a collection of Words of Wisdom, Poems, and Songs written by Mercy Gabriel. There are 113 words of wisdom, 33 poems, and 15 songs for education and entertainment. The author uses hilarious satires, comic, and practical illustrations to convey the message of nonviolence in relationships, condemns exploitations, harassment in all forms. Whereas the first reaction of someone reading the poems will be laughter, but as the reader begins to consider his or her far-from-perfect relationship collapsing (maybe) by none- charlatan attitudes, selfishness or greed, unfaithfulness, sexually transmitted diseases, financial crises, loveless habits, or fear of social disapproval. All these were reasons bigger and closer than the mere dress of Miss leggy, which in itself represents a physical malady, less than spiritual and other bigger issues. Thus, the laughter of the reader will be turned into a puzzled frown of self - scrutiny. The author leaves the reader to discover the real truth that it was not the mere mode of dress that made Miss leggy to be considered by her mother as immoral, or by her boyfriend who believed that it was the mode of dress that made her cheap to get by his rivals. In his words "shifting her hair is all miss leggy, cost his rivals; to know her is but a stretch of strayed-hand out, downward, upward, outward, and inward." The truth remains that one's conducts, values, and morals are spiritual, drawn from within not determined by a mere mode of dressing. A hood does not make a monk. The mother of Miss Leggy and her lover did not probe deep to the root cause but rather concentrated on the outwards appearance or looks which many of us are often guilty of. We make decisions based on our biases, preconceived notions, perceptions, old beliefs, outward appearance, without researching or probing to find the real issues about a subject matter. It is also interesting that this attitude was what informed the University Don to take advantage of the female students who were weak in their academics, and those who wear dresses we consider "not proper". He considered them not worthy of respecting their human rights, since people perceive them to be weak in academics, or not "dressed properly". The author portrayed the height of this preconceived notion of believing that people have to deserve to be given justice or freedom, when the University Don, said "Well, I merely offered a teaching aid and 'compromising hug' was all I was paid, for a 'thing' that is deeply laid, could it again be harassed with. a familiar weapon it's quite friendly with? besides the skirt left a big vacuum to easily let in the weapon, a friend. In laughter, the trial came to an end a great trial for the don, indeed. All, even the "thing-in-skirt" really ''agreed''. The author pointed out how people take for granted the violations of rights of people and laugh about it because they do not consider these people as deserving of justice or freedom. How people trivialize the issue of abuses and make victims of human rights violations feel that it is their fault for how they are treated or for what happened to them. The truth is that you do not deserve justice, because it is not a privilege but infallible rights. You don't forgive your fundamental human rights as many want to change the narratives in the fragile Nigerian Society asking people to forgive their human rights to maintain the "unity "of one Nigeria". The reason they want to continue to trivialize serious issues of oppression, repression, suppression, intimidation, and harassment, is because the "Victor" wants to still enjoy the undue advantage against the "vanquished". The strategy is to trivialize the discussion on this and make the "vanquished" to be blamed for the hate polices of the "Victor" against the "vanquished", based on their perception and logic, the oppressed does not deserve justice or freedom. Can this narrative continue unchanged, ? unquestioned
