About the Book

For the Christian, Easter is not about a super-human rabbit, colored eggs and candy, or fluffy baby chickens. Easter is about one incredible week-the one we now call Holy Week--during which God changed history forever. That week began on the day we call "Palm Sunday," with a procession through Jerusalem. Jesus rode a donkey and her colt through the street with people spreading their robes and tree branches on the road and shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" The next day of Holy Week that Christians observe is Thursday, referred to as Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday. On this day we observe Jesus' last meal together with his disciples, a Passover meal. After the meal, they went to the Mount of Olives where Jesus prayed. Then they went to a garden where Judas betrayed Jesus. Allowing Himself to be arrested, Jesus was taken first to Annas, then to Caiaphas, and finally to Pilate. Finding no fault with Jesus, Pilate released the robber Barabbas to the Jews and approved their demand to crucify Jesus. Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, on a cross between two thieves. He was mocked by many, but one thief believed. Jesus told him that he would be in paradise with Him that day. Finally, Jesus died, and astonishing events occurred. He was buried in a new tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathea. Fearing theft by the disciples, the heavy stone at the tomb was sealed and a guard placed there. When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to the tomb at sunrise, to anoint Jesus. They discovered that He had risen, as He said. He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, then to two others, and finally to the Eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table, Jesus rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, then was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. For the Christian, the time leading up to Easter--the joyous day when we celebrate having a Living Lord--is an important part of their walk with God. During this time, we can spend time in reflection, prayer, meditation on scriptures and the meaning of Easter, and thinking about the incredible sacrifice Jesus made so that all who believe on Him will inherit eternal life. This is your Easter journal to use any way you wish. There are no writing prompts. Each entry has two pages. The first page has a space for a title and the date. The remainder of the two pages is to be used for whatever you feel led to write. In the back of the journal there is a customizable Index which you can create for your journal to provide quick and easy reference for anything you want to re-read at a later time.
