Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2002 im Fachbereich Psychologie - Entwicklungspsychologie, Note: 1,0, Universität Potsdam (Entwicklungspsychologie), Veranstaltung: Lern- und Verhaltensstörungen des Kindes- und Jugendalters, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 'Dyskalkulie', 'Rechenschwäche', 'Rechenstörung', 'Zählschwäche' - die Anzahl der Begrifflichkeiten, die in der Literatur zu diesem Thema auftauchen, sind beinahe ebenso vielfältig wie die Erscheinungsformen dieser Störung des Kindes- und Jugendalters. Eines ist jedoch allen gemeinsam und sollte bei aller Wissenschaftlichkeit nie aus dem Blickfeld geraten: manche Kinder haben von Beginn an ganz besondere Probleme beim Erlernen grundlegender mathematischer Operationen, die nicht ad hoc erklärbar sind. Da solche Probleme zunächst meist auf den Mathematikunterricht begrenzt bleiben und die Kinder nicht sofort versetzungsgefährdet sind, wird leider immer noch viel zu oft abgewartet und die Kinder mit übermäßigem monotonen Üben zusätzlich belastet. Wie ich später noch aufzeigen werde, kann aber genau diese Praxis das Problem noch verschärfen. Rechtfertigungen von Seiten der Eltern wie auch der Lehrer, wie 'der Knoten platzt schon noch', 'die Begabung fehlt' oder 'er/sie ist eben einfach zu langsam' zeigen, dass das Problem der Rechenstörung in der Praxis kaum Eingang gefunden hat, "versagt ein Kind hier (im Rechenunterricht; Anm. d. Verf.), verbinden Lehrerinnen aufgrund der vermeintlichen Logik der Inhalte dies häufig zu Unrecht mit Intelligenzmangel" . Auch in der wissenschaftlichen Forschung sind die Veröffentlichungen zu diesem Thema eher spärlich, im Gegensatz zur Lese-Rechtschreib-Schwäche beispielsweise. Dies ist umso erstaunlicher, als "der Rechenunterricht [wird] neben dem Lese-Schreib-Unterricht als das schullaufbahnentscheidende Fach in der Grundschule angesehen" wird.
