About the Book
SYNOPSIS: Duke is a sweet, friendly, red beagle. He was rescued and adopted by his human, Matt, in 2009. Now they are a team! They are RESCUE ROAD WARRIORS! Every month, along with many other rescue volunteers, Duke and Matt jump in their "Beaglemobile" and drive their canine "passengers" to safe shelters, foster homes, and new adoptive families. Kids will meet Duke and Matt, learn what it's like to be a Rescue Road Warrior, and find out why these volunteers help rescue dogs, puppies, and sometimes other animals. Duke wants kids to learn about pets and rescue animals, so he's included eight special "Learn More" and "Fun Stuff" pages. All the photographs are actual pictures of rescue dogs, many that Duke and Matt helped to rescue and transport. Kids will love that Duke is the narrator of this real life, non-fiction rescue dog story.
