About the Book

First off I would like to be clear that I am not a therapist, counselor nor medical professional. If you are having an emergency, traumatic event or PTSD/Manic episode please seek professional help from law enforcement, clergy or medical professionals. I simply promote the act of journaling, drawing & coloring and provide a collection of books to do so in. In no way are my products a substitute or replacement to having a supportive professional. My products are to encourage a bridge, ice breaker and/or coping tool that healing and recovery is possible for anyone as it was for me.

As an artist my work is the result of a cathartic act heavily influenced by traumatic psychological events. Whenever I paint my wet secrets onto the canvas. As they begin to dry healing & miracles happen, I become the light.Creating and donating coloring books & journals proves to be highly therapeutic or cathartic, as well. Many of my works explore intense psychological themes. After a difficult childhood, I began using my inner turmoil to create art. I suffer from bipolar disorder, PTSD, severe depression with psychotic features, dissociative disorder and developmental delays due to brain damage in my frontal cortex. All the results of trauma due to childhood sexual tortures and foster care negligence that started as an infant all the way to age 17.

My artwork, although colorful, often reflects my emotional pain and distress. Despite my background, I am currently completing my degree in Art Therapy & Substance Abuse Counseling as my expressive arts coloring books evolve I can still reach those who mirror my experiences. As an adult my life was deeply affected by mental illness, domestic violence, victimization and mass incarceration after being assaulted at the age of 32, and many years of being silenced by secrets, shame and ridicule. I use my life experiences in my art, and my life has become an open book because of it. So with so many communities attached to my past still keeping those secrets of my pain my art is considered controversial and highly confrontational. But this is how I fight for justice and peace for me and every other woman and girl who has endured trauma to use their voices by coloring their story onto mine.

Newborn Cathartic Artistry is a series of paintings I use to acknowledge, disclose and rebuild my daily life after trauma. The act of painting alleviates and frees me of anxiety, nightmares and toxic behavior because I express them onto the canvas. Essentially telling the secret stories of trauma that my body had absorbed so many years ago in my childhood. From the moment I read my birth mother & father's handwritten court statements regarding relinquishing their rights to me. I had made it my mission to find a place in this world to belong, be accepted and have someone to claim me as their own to fill the family-shaped hole in my heart. As many times I have claimed those who have endured the things I have as my newfound brothers and sisters. I didn't realize until now that the first time I survived was when I was adopted into the "Survivor Family."

Color Your Story Onto Mine, LLC was originally created to allow traumatized African American women & girls who are victims of childhood & domestic violence a safe space to acknowledge, disclose and build a platform for healing and recovery. My mission is to provide a safe space to acknowledge & disclose childhood trauma through expressive arts coloring books & journals. To liberate others who mirror my story as a former sex trafficked foster youth, chronic incest, domestic violence survivor and incarcerated citizen. Color Your Story Onto Mine is also dedicated to creating & donating for individuals and Survivors currently/formerly incarcerated across the United States.Hope Row Chronicles is a special series dedicated to individuals on death row.
