About the Book

Jason Stiene hasn't been sleeping well. He has a newly found talent, and it has been keeping him up at night. He has discovered the gift of oneiromancy. Like the fabled prophets and seers of medieval time, his dreams predict the future, a future which in his case appears rather bleak. For reasons as yet unclear, he and Elizabeth Harcourt, a woman he is yet to meet (and marry) are in the crosshairs of Eric Kirklund- a sadistic serial killer short on scruples and sanity, but long on motive, method, and madness. Can Jason, an ordinary computer programmer, whose only weapons are his intellect and the resources of the information superhighway, thwart the efforts of the master henchman? Of course, Eric has an ambitious agenda, with Jason and Elizabeth only a small piece of his planned pièce de résistance, a bloody massacre in his sleepy little hometown of Westwood, that will be the crowning glory of his long and infamous career. Along the way, Jason will be helped by a colorful cast of characters, including Deputy Jim Talbot- a super-sized bruiser and martial arts aficionado affectionately known as the Hulkster, old-timer Sheriff Gus Hendricks, who though jovial and easygoing, packs more paunch than punch, as well as a trio of sometimes comical but always deadly mobsters. It's all grand fun for Eric, as he leads them on a wild rollercoaster ride, riddled with a labyrinth of cryptic clues, coded messages, and the requisite string of corpses, murder, and mayhem. Of course, Jason's task is even more daunting than he knows- not just because his adversary is more skilled, ruthless, and amoral, not just because the killer has a head start, and lacks the constraints of law or conscience. Sadly, Jason Stiene is unaware he will be dead within the hour. Evil is afoot ... and the clock is ticking. Hang on and enjoy the ride.
About the Author: Dr. Mark Gurian was born in Brooklyn, New York, but has been a resident of Long Island for the past twenty-five years.
