About the Book

Eleven year old boy, Giovani, feels smothered by three younger sisters and drowning in their Sea of Pink. Bored with ordinary life, his only escape is to journey into imaginary adventures, while longing for real companionship away from all things frilly. On his twelfth birthday, his eccentric Aunt bestowed upon him a mysterious gift that she thought he was finally old enough to handle; it changed his life forever. Immediately he was thrust into a curious world that has always been there in the shadows, protecting him, so that one day Giovani might help protect them. For over one thousand years, his bloodline has been part of an elite order that has fought against evil, and now, ready or not, it was his turn. His new reality full of adventures with dragons, elves, and magic await his arrival. Evil forces threaten his family's existence and have already killed others. The Order needs his help. It is his birthright; his duty. How will he handle his new found responsibility and quest? Will he rise to the challenge or sink back into the Ordinary?
About the Author: Jennifer Phillips Russo lives in a quaint village in upstate New York with her four beautiful children, amazing husband, and two dogs. She has always possessed the 'gift to gab', which eventually evolved into the ability to 'spin a web'. Her love for her children, storytelling and her fondness for nature and learning prompted the first fantastical tale in the trilogy, The Dragon Birthmark. This fantasy fiction series is for middle-grade aged children, which incorporates many science concepts along with hope of inspiring life-long learners to grow in their understanding of the world through a fun engaging way, with a few great themes/ lessons to be learned inside. It is Jennifer's goal to encourage scientific imagination. This book is speckled with bits of science, social studies and fantasy, to spark curiosity in young readers to research and learn more. There is an underlying theme that "Nature" needs to be cared for and respected. This series will trigger imagination and innovation among young readers, initiate inquiry in young minds, as well as, promote scientific discovery and the importance of caring for our planet. Jennifer hopes to inspire young readers to become compassionate human beings, able to think for themselves, and participate thoughtfully and respectfully with others in building and protecting a society that is hopeful and decent.
