Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 2,3, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (Philosophische Fakultät II), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Idee zu dieser Arbeit kam durch die Lektüre von Jean Pauls "Siebenkäs", der zu den Doppelgängerdichtungen gezählt werden kann. Mit Lust auf mehr, stürzte ich mich auf weitere Beispiele dieser Lektüreart und fand heraus, dass es doch erhebliche Unterschiede zwischen den Autoren und der Gestaltung (Realisation) und Verwendung des Motivs gibt. Vor allem in der Romantik findet sich eine Fülle von Doppelgänger- und Automatendichtungen; die Letzteren machen ebenfalls einen Teil der Arbeit aus. Aus diesem Interesse heraus ergab sich für mich das Thema dieser Magisterarbeit: Das Phänomen des Doppelgängers und des künstlichen Menschen in der romantischen Literatur. "Doppeltgänger* *So heißen Leute, die sich selber sehen." Diese Definition Jean Pauls, die seinen eigens erfundenen Begriff für ein schon lange bekanntes Phänomen beschreibt, besticht durch ihre Einfachheit. Sich selber sehen, sich in etwas oder jemandem erkennen, mehr ist nicht nötig, um einen Doppelgänger ins Leben zu rufen. Etliche der Romangeschöpfe Jean Pauls zeugen davon, dass er einer der führenden Köpfe bezüglich des Doppelgängermotivs war. An deren Beispiel wird ersichtlich, dass oft nur der Schein ausreicht, um einen Doppelgänger entstehen zu lassen. Manchmal genügt es, nur ganz einfache äußerliche Merkmale zu kopieren, um für eine andere Person gehalten zu werden. Die Grenzen für eine eindeutige Bestimmung - also wann jemand zu einem Doppelgänger von jemand anderem wird (oder umgekehrt) - bleiben letztlich subjektiv bestimmt und unterscheiden sich von Mensch zu Mensch. Das ist wohl auch der Grund, weshalb komplizierte Definitionen immer unstimmig und ergänzungswürdig erscheinen. Die einfachere Erklärung bleibt deshalb wohl die bessere.
