Don't Worry - The Safety's On is a triptych of stories, true tales, a myth, and songs.
These works consider the strange and paradoxical world we live in, surprising us again and again, often with
humor and love. Many pieces express the loss and sorrow caused by the gun violence pervading American society.
Part one, Just a gun, the left panel of the triptych, tells stories - strange, funny, loving - from lived life
and imagined worlds where a gun voices its innocence.
Part two, Rainmountain and Lasa, the center panel, portrays a mythical revolution of people, trees, and
ten thousand yellow canaries winning a battle with a colonizing power.
Part three, I aint packin no gun, the right panel, rewrites the lyrics of some classic American tunes to reflect the
tragic consequences of our barbaric gun culture. The panel includes poems for young people who lost their
lives to gun violence.
