El libro no es un tratamiento completo del Espíritu y sus dones, sino un acercamiento académico a los temas principales con los que el creyente de hoy se enfrenta y vive en su camino espiritual personal y también colectivo a nivel eclesial en nuestra época actual. The Gift of the Holy Spirit by Dr Gary Shogren, aims to explore the doctrine of the Holy Spirit.
Specifically his person, the relationship between the apostolic church and today's church, his gifts and his work in the formation of the church. It is carried out through exegetical, theological and historical research.
This is an academic book, but its focus is on the application for today's church with its ecclesial and socio-cultural challenges.
The book is divided into three blocks of essays:
- The Spirit of God in selected texts of the New Testament.
- The Spirit in the Patristic Church
- The Spirit in the Latin American Church
- Appendix: Craig Keener, A Review of John MacArthur, Strange Fire: The Danger of Offending the Holy Spirit with False Worship.
The book is not a complete treatment of the Spirit and his gifts but a scholarly approach to the major issues that today's believers face, both on a personal level and in ecclesial settings.
