About the Book

Believe it or not, there are some men who long to settle down and give their hearts, bodies, and souls to only one woman. Some guys actually want to get married and raise families. Eddie Expat is not one of these men-or, at least he hasn't been for most of his life. He grew up a naughty boy, maturing just in time for a midlife crisis. Though his boyish charms are fading quickly and his former friends find him reprehensible and have labeled him a misogynist, Eddie continues to surround himself with women. He can't resist a damsel in distress, or the opportunity to contort her form into a variety of sexual positions. Eddie did get married, twice-first to a mean-spirited Italian woman who used what was beneath her panties to control him; and then to Evelyn, who was a bridesmaid at his first wedding. After divorcing his first wife, Eddie enters domestic bliss with Evelyn and has two daughters, and commits himself to equipping his children with the life skills needed to flourish in a man's world. As he attempts to do this and confront the fact that he is no longer the center of his wife's life, Eddie's climb up the corporate ladder plunges him into the world of exotic pole-dancing and not-so-exotic women in the clubs of Bangkok. Eddie submerges himself in a world of sleaze and immoral ooze, where he is outdone in a series of encounters with women thriving unconventionally in a world supposedly designed to disadvantage them. He watches in horror as his world splits down the sexual divide, and wonders what would happen if men and women put their collective heads together. In a desperate bid to right this imbalance and return to his former life before it is taken from him, Eddie struggles to reconnect with his wife and daughters without the moral credibility to be taken seriously. Facing up to the fact he doesn't like what he sees in the mirror, Eddie accepts a transfer to India, seeking redemption and, ultimately, a way back to the side of his estranged wife and daughters. Dog and Other Delicacies is a tantalizing romp of sex, temptations of the flesh, and other delicious vices that carries readers to new lands and new cultures. It takes a quirky look at the sometimes vexing question of male-female relations from the eyes of a fallen man making his way back from misogyny to monogamy, and shows readers how sometimes in the search for something that's missing we discover that what we've been looking for has been there all along. Sure to appeal to mature men and women who have a sense of humor and an interest in society's underbelly, Dog and Other Delicacies is a humorous, oftentimes sarcastic, read that is not only fast and fun but also thought-provoking. The stories are from a seldom-traveled path, or from a traveled path seldom put to writing, but they parallel situations in other countries and speak to the underlying power of temptation. About more than philandering and enjoying a buffet of ripe young women, Dog and Other Delicacies is the surprising story of one man's struggle to become a better person, to focus his energy not on seeking carnal pleasure but on loving and supporting his family.
About the Author: Behind the mask of "Eddie Expat," there is a real man, and while he's decided to withhold his name, he's too proud to keep his personal and professional accomplishments a secret. With a bachelor's degree in commerce and marketing, Expat climbed his way up the corporate ladder, along the way also taking over his family's company established in 1986. He is currently also consulting abroad to one of the largest manufacturers serving the furniture industry in India. From the start of his career to his most recent endeavors, Expat has earned a reputation for getting things done and achieving dramatic turnarounds in the companies he's run. He has overseen turnarounds throughout the Asia-Pacific region, giving him an intimate knowledge of life there, which he brings to the setting of his debut novel, Dog and Other Delicacies. Though those who know him may see some similarities between his life and his writing, he wants everyone to know that Dog and Other Delicacies really is a work of fiction.
