Über den Sinn und Zweck der Unternehmung läßt sich gut räsonieren. ln der öffentlichen Diskussion in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland kann man recht sicher sein, keinen Konsensus darüber zu erreichen: Zum einen werden die Argumente der Gegenseite nicht zur Kenntnis genommen, zum anderen werden implizit sehr viele unterschiedliche Anforderungen an das Unter- nehmen gestellt. Sinn und Zweck des Unternehmens bestehen dann lediglich darin, diesen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden. Leider können sich meist nur die Mitglieder einer speziellen Interessengruppe über die Art und den Umfang dieser Forderungen einig werden. Betrachtet man das Unternehmen als Manifestierung einer lnvestitionsent- scheidung, und zwar analog zu einem zinstragenden Instrument, dann redu- ziert man das Unternehmen - ohne daß man die gesellschaftspolitische Verantwortung der Unternehmen negiert-auf seine geldbezogene Substanz, also auf Rendite und Risiko. Dies ist die verständliche Sicht des Anteilsinha- bers einer Aktiengesellschaft mit einer Minderheitsbeteiligung; er achtet auf Kurschance, Kursrisiko und Dividende. Gewöhnlich hat der Minderheitsgesellschafter nur wenig Einfluß auf Vorstand und Aufsichtsrat. Es stellt sich rasch die Frage, inwieweit der Investor das Recht und die Möglichkeit zur Risikostreuung in seinem eigenen Portfolio hat, wenn die Publikumsgesellschaften dazu neigen, sich in vielen Sparten gleich- zeitig zu engagieren, d. h. quasi als Holding zu gerieren. Die Praxis der letzten Jahre hat gezeigt, daß viele Gesellschaften dazu tendieren, Mischkonzerne zu werden, indem sie diversifizieren. Nicht immer gelingt es ihnen dabei, Synergien zu nutzen, Risiken auszugleichen und den Ertrag zu steigern.
