Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 1997 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Klassiker und Theorierichtungen, Note: 2, Universität Potsdam, Veranstaltung: Biologische und soziale Verwandtschaftsverhältnisse im Umbruch, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: andtschafts- beziehungen in der städtischen Gesellschaft Die Autorin untersucht in diesem Text die Bedeutung von Verwandtschaft und Verwandtschaftsnetzwerken. Dabei stützt sie sich auf eine kritische Betrachtung der Thesen von Talcott Parsons. Der Autorin geht es nicht darum, Parsons Gesamtkonzept zu widerlegen. Vielmehr versucht sie zu beweisen, dass dieses nicht zu generalisieren, das heißt auf die gesamte folgende gesellschaftliche Entwicklung, anzuwenden ist. Im ersten Teil der Hausarbeit möchte ich einen verständlicheren Überblick über die Thesen Parsons geben. Dies wird insofern schwierig, da die Quellenangaben der Autorin unzureichend sind. Wichtig ist hier auch der Bezugsrahmen dieser Thesen. Parsons konnte sie mit empirischen Untersuchungen der amerikanischen Gesellschaft der 50-er und 60-er Jahre belegen. Deshalb ist es wichtig einige der sehr umfangreichen Grundanalysen zu erläutern. Im zweiten Teil der Hausarbeit möchte ich Verwandtschaftsbeziehungen in Arbeiterfamilien während der Industrialisation aufzeigen. Hier wird dargestellt, wie die Familie die Anpassung an die industrielle Gesellschaft erleichtert und in der großbürgerlichen Schicht an Machterhaltung und -ausweitung aktiv beteiligt war. Danach gehe ich auf die Beziehungen zwischen Eltern und verheirateten Kindern ein. Hier geht es um empirische Untersuchungen zu den Thesen Parsons. Die wichtigste Untersuchung führte Louis Rousell durch, in der er Kontakthäufigkeit zwischen verheirateten Kindern und ihrer Familie untersucht. In weiteren Analysen beschäftigt er sich mit dem Beziehungsgefüge im französischen Mittelstand. Am Ende der Hausarbeit möchte ich die Kritik der Autorin im Gesamtzusammenhang mit Parsons Thesen darstellen. Vor allem aber zu den The
